Digital video technology

Digital Video Technology

Digital has changed how we do things in the modern world. It has made things for us a lot simpler, from editing to watching TV. Because digital can be compressed into a smaller format this means we can use it in a more diverse way. We can upload things on to smaller things such as our iPods, smart phones and even memory sticks. Before we had digital we used analogue, the down falls of analogue is that it could not be compressed so everything was a lot harder to do. Editing in analogue takes long as the tape has to play over for example if the tape is an hour long it would take an hour long to get the tape uploaded on to the editing software. As for digital it is a lot quicker and simpler to edit tape because it can be compressed which means it can be quicker to upload. Digital brings us a multiplex variety of channels, interactive options and HD. Digital picture quality is good because most channels use HD. Also digital picture quality is better compared to analogue because its signals are not transmitted by waves. Digital does not use waves meaning the signals can reach further and are a lot better.
